Some parts of the appliance are manufactured by hand, but many others are manufactured by an outside company and sent to our office for collection. Accuracy and care are generally significant in the assembly interaction. In the O&P world, manual projection has always been the highest quality level. However, new innovation has started to change that.
Typically, an orthotist or prosthetist takes a pestle projection of the appendix to make a contraption. The mortar then fills the mold to make a final imitation of the treatment region. Then an expert uses the mortar shape to assemble the contraption for an ideal fit. This can be an extensive cycle. The patient returns regularly for various adaptations and device changes. However, at WCBL, we also use state-of-the-art innovation to dramatically reduce the manufacturing time of each appliance.
A CAD CAM scanner allows our group to deliver a greater volume of devices, at a higher rate of productivity. An expert uses a hand-held laser scanner, uniquely created for the fabrication of orthotics and prosthetics, to obtain a computerized estimate. The specialists then introduce advanced patient scans into the machine. The CAD CAM then uses a 7-pivot Ortis cutting frame to trim the foam pieces into final scan imitations. This interaction normally lasts 30 minutes. The specialists then build the appliance directly from the shape of the foam.

Our automated 7 cube shaper provides fast and accurate creation of our gadgets. Generally cuts prosthetic and orthotic molds in 5-20 minutes with 0.1mm precision for a smooth finish on the most amazing shapes. In this way, we can offer our patients the most precise adjustment and the most ideal turning time.
